Cercle D'Economía

The Meetings of the Círculo de Economía (known as Costa Brava Meetings until their 17th edition) constitute the most relevant and recognized activity of the Círculo. This is so due to several reasons.

Its first editions go back to the 60’s (the first one was held in 1961) and they were a very singular event in Spain at that time. After that first one, 22 Meetings have been held and the general conception of those meetings reflects the economic development and the social modernization of Spain during the process towards its integration into Europe. After the entrance in the European Economic Community, the debates have consisted of new approaches, examining questions concerning the global area.

Its components and the active participation of many partners of the Círculo are an attractive factor that promotes mutual stimulation. Outstanding protagonists of our history during the last 50 years have taken part in the meetings as lecturers, keeping up their compromise with the spirit and with the mood of the Meetings. This is what the partners of the Círculo, approximately 400, have also done, taking part, actively and regularly, in the Meetings. All this has taken place in a relaxed atmosphere that has favoured meeting and debate and that, thanks to the important support of the mass media has turned the Meetings into a unique space for the generation of ideas and for the enhancement of proposals.
